We would very much like you to be a member of our Wesley United Methodist Church family. You may join in one of several ways:
By Profession of Faith and Baptism
If you are not now a baptized Christian, our pastor will be happy to discuss the meaning of the Sacrament with you in your home or at the church at your convenience.
By Transfer from Another United Methodist Church
Simply mark the attendance card “I am interested in becoming a member of WUMC”. Our pastor will then get in touch with you. It is not necessary for you to write to your former church. The church office will handle the details transfer for you.
By Transfer from another Christian Denomination
The process is very much like the one above. Since you are already baptized and confirmed, these steps will not be repeated. You will be asked to take one vow taken by all members of the United Methodist Church: “Will you be loyal to the United Methodist Church and uphold it by your prayers, your presence, your gifts and your service?”
Transfer of Your Membership from a Denomination That Will Not Accept Your Transferring Across Denominational Lines or by Reaffirmation of Faith
Your baptism is accepted. You will be confirmed in a process called Renewal of Vows.
How To “Join” without “Joining”
If you are a United Methodist whose membership is held in another city or state and you wish to retain that membership in your “home” church, you can become an Affiliated Member. This grants you pastoral oversight, fellowship, and full participation (including the holding of office) here. You will not be counted on our roll but on the roll of your “home” church. The pastor will write your “home” church pastor informing him/her of your Affiliate Member status. Members of other Christian denominations may become Associate Members.
